Solon Belleville Washers

Belleville Springs* Features

Belleville Springs are used in a variety of applications where high spring loads are required. They are particularly useful where vibration, differential thermal expansion, relaxation, and bolt creep are problematic.

Belleville Springs Advantages:

          • Keep bolted joints tight
          • Efficient use of space
          • High spring loads with small deflection
          • Self damping
          • Long service life
          • Load-deflection curves which can be designed for various applications ranging from linear rates to negative rates
          • Stacking in “parallel” to increase load
          • Stacking in “series” to increase deflection
          • Simple adjustment of the load and deflection of a spring stack by adding or removing individual springs
          • Rounded edges to reduce stresses

*Note: Belleville spring, disc spring, Belleville washer, conical compression washer are all names for the same type of spring.

Solon Flange Washers

Flange Washer Features

OD/ID ratio is small to fit standard flanges

Solon Flange Washers are a type of Belleville spring. The main distinction of a flange washer design relative to most Belleville spring designs is that the OD/ID ratio is small to fit standard flanges. Solon Flange Washers are designed to maintain sufficient bolt tension and resultant gasket pressure. This allows the flange washers to be used in applications where bolts are in close proximity. In addition, the flat loads for flange washers are generally high to meet the demands of many flange live loading applications.

Significantly reduce the risk of failure

Live Loading using Solon Flange Washers will significantly reduce the risk of failure by maintaining more of the original bolt preload. Solon Flange Washers are ideal for maintaining bolt preload to live load gaskets and valve packing, thereby preventing flange and valve stem leaks.

Solon Disc Springs

Disc Spring Features

Solon Manufacturing offers a full range of Solon Disc Springs for use in dynamic applications. Solon Disc Springs conform to the DIN 2093 specification and are RoHS compliant. The springs are used when the application requires a large number of deflection cycles or when the required forces or deflections are critical.

  • Range in sizes from 8mm to 250mm OD; 4mm to 125mm ID.
  • Available in Carbon Steel, 17-7 PH Stainless Steel, 301 Stainless Steel and Inconel.
  • Carbon Steel disc springs are finished with the standard corrosion protection of Phos and Oil.

Disc Spring Applications

  • Punch and Die Sets
  • Clutch and Brake Mechanisms in Heavy Equipment
  • Bearing Assemblies
  • Valve Live Loading
